Navy Pier Garage

This 250,000 sf, 5-story, 700-space, post-tensioned garage addition to the existing parking structure had unique site constraints including building over occupied space and immediately adjacent to Navy Pier public arcades and walkways. There were virtually no staging areas outside the building lines. Special forming systems were developed to allow semitrailer trucks to make deliveries to the Navy Pier retail mall.

Innovative use of the tower crane was realized when the 230-foot jib crane was mounted on the roof deck of the existing garage without shoring or foundations. The garage utilizes an intricate pattern of many different form liners providing the look of cut stone. All patterns were developed specially for this project.
