Thompson Hall - Western Illinois University

The renovations to Thompson Hall include removing and replacing the exterior enclosure system; replacing the HVAC systems on each floor; and providing new finishes in the dorm rooms. Originally constructed in 1969, Thompson Hall houses 630 dorm rooms over 19 floors and was clad in 170,000 square feet of wall panels and windows. Crews removed the old system and installed 125,000 square feet of new glass curtainwall and 45,000 square feet of new rain screen metal panel wall system.

Additional exterior work includes the installation of new canopies, entry doors and hardware, and new roofs. Interior work includes coordination of asbestos removal with the University’s abatement contractor; selective demolition to provide access for the exterior wall replacement; and installation of new HVAC systems, drywall, carpet, paint, and window coverings.
