Salem Baptist Church House of Hope

In essence, the House of Hope is a 10,000-seat arena, the product of highly targeted value engineering to help the church get the most building possible on a limited budget. The 205,000-square-foot facility is composed of structural steel and precast concrete, with a precast concrete exterior. Super-long 220-foot joists in the roof helped ensure obstruction-free sight lines in the 7,000-seat seating bowl. The open floor, with a multipurpose stage, can accommodate up to 3,000 folding chairs and room for three full-sized basketball courts. A state-of-the-art sound, broadcast, video and lighting system ensures that visitors can hear and see well for both church services and musical events. The facility also includes a full-immersion baptism font, not found in most arenas. Surface lots accommodate up to 2,000 cars.

The project received an Institutional Award of Merit from Midwest Construction.
