Northwestern University Erie II Parking Structure

Construction of a 12-story, 375,000-square-foot parking structure. When Northwestern University wanted to build a massive addition to its Erie Street parking garage on its downtown campus, it returned to the original contractor—McHugh. Once again, McHugh’s concrete teams worked to minimize disruption to the affluent Gold Coast neighborhood while executing a tightly scheduled 10-month construction program.

McHugh teams poured approximately 15,000 cubic yards of concrete to complete the cast-in-place, post-tensioned structure, which features precast concrete on its first three floors. The 1,050-vehicle facility features extensive landscaping, with glass and aluminum facing on the fourth through 12th stories on the garage’s west side.
