CTA Illinois Medical District Stations Reconstruction

Chicago Construction Project

Work includes the new construction of the Illinois Medical District (IMD) station on the CTA’s Blue Line; the most comprehensive overhaul since it opened in 1958. The station, located on the Ogden Avenue overpass of I-290, is one of the busiest on the route and provides connections to four major hospital systems, Malcolm X College, and the United Center.

The station house is being completely rebuilt and will feature new lighting, new state-of-the-art security cameras, bus and train tracker displays, enhanced platform canopies, and the addition of an elevator that will make the station accessible to travelers with disabilities.

The entrances at both Damen Avenue and Paulina Avenue will get new flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, fare payment equipment and customer service kiosks.

The project is being performed as part of a joint venture with UJAMAA Construction, a certified MBE firm.
