POSITION: Assistant Project Manager

The assistant project manager will provide overall administrative and technical direction for one or more projects. The APM may be responsible for specific aspects of the job such as document control, proposal request pricing, change orders, and/or schedule maintenance. This position reports directly to the senior project manager and/or project manager.

As assistant project manager, you will:

  • Develop estimates, prepare quantity takeoff, contact subcontractors, and develop project plans
  • Work independently and exercise discretion in daily activities under direction of a project manager
  • Issue RFIs to architect and owner for review and approval, and distribute responses
  • Process submittals for approval and maintain status report
  • Create and maintain revisions log to ensure project team has most updated drawings and specifications
  • Issue price proposal requests
  • Issue subcontractor and owner change orders
  • Create and update cost summary reports (PCOs, OCOs)
  • Negotiate, award and draft subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices at monthly pay application meetings
  • Conduct and manage weekly subcontractor and owner meetings
  • Provide monthly update to owner on overall project costs and weekly quantity updates for self-performed work
  • Create project schedules and logistics plans
  • Review schedule with superintendent and identify lead times on material deliveries, critical path activities, or delays that may impact the overall schedule
  • Update weekly look-ahead schedules to provide to owner
  • Perform monthly baseline schedule updates
  • Prepare daily activity reports to owner
  • Provide coordination between trades

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BS degree in engineering/construction or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience/knowledge in construction, design, finance, and management required
  • To apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
  • A thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on project activities
  • Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills
